Ray Matsumiya, Director of the Oleaner Initiative Ray specializes in unofficial diplomacy and cross-cultural exchange programs with a focus on the Middle East/ North Africa (MENA) region. He is also a consultant who has led and contributed to projects in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the fields of education and non-profit management.

Ray will be speaking with us about the Hiroshima Peace and Resilience Project, which pairs live online presenters/facilitators with virtual technology to inspire resilience in participants through the story of Hiroshima, before, during and after the atomic bombing.

    Ray Matsumiya, a Boston, Massachusetts native, specializes in unofficial diplomacy and cross-cultural exchange programs with a focus on the Middle East/ North Africa (MENA) region. He is also a consultant who has led and contributed to projects in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the fields of education and non-profit management.

    During his tenure at the University of the Middle East Project (UME), Ray has supervised, implemented and secured funding for over 50 institutes on a variety of topics including critical and creative thinking, negotiation and conflict resolution, 21st century work skills, civic engagement and peace education. These institutes have included over 2500 educators, civil society leaders and others who have gone on to impact hundreds of thousands of young people.
